We’re delighted to announce the launch of year 2 of Artmix, a multi-art and film project for young people at Dunoon Burgh Hall, funded by the National Lottery’s Young Start Fund and BFI/ Screen Argyll. The two-year project will explore the fundamental skills of filmmaking and animation with world-renowned artists and filmmakers such as Jim Parkyn (Aardman Animation) and Alasdair Satchel. The project will cover model-making and stop-frame animation, music video and short filmmaking, and film editing and composition. Wonderful local artist, Jill Bryson, will also be leading some workshops as part of the sessions. The project is open to all young people aged 8-21. Every Wednesday. Ages 8-11 3.30-5.30pm Ages 12+ 6.00-8.00pm All workshops are free! Please book your spot. A Christmas Carol: A Radio Play on Stage 🎙️ Dickens’ masterpiece is brought to the stage as a 1950s radio broadcast in front of a studio audience. Four actors play 1950s radio actors who in turn portray all the characters of ‘A Christmas Carol’. Featuring live sound effects and an original score this is a rare opportunity to see how a 1950s radio broadcast was produced. Complimentary mince pie with every ticket purchased before 7th December. This is a launch gig for The Jack Ruby 5’s debut album, Despedida La Bodega (on Strength in Numbers Records). The band is a Glasgow/Dunoon - based jazz ensemble whose music bridges the soulful grit of Grant Green with the melodic elegance of Stan Getz and the Latin subtlety of João Gilberto. Inspired by Glasgow’s disappearing cultural spaces and infused with a cinematic, groove-rich quality, the album offers a fresh twist on acid jazz, post-bop, and Latin influences — a sound both distinctly Glaswegian and globally resonant. 🕷️🎃 Spooky Season at Artmix! 👻 We had a fang-tastic Halloween theme at Artmix this week and couldn’t resist sharing the creepily creative results! 🖤 Our young artists learned some special effects makeup magic — crafting realistic injuries, cuts, wounds, and black eyes 💀💉. They then brought their looks to life in their spooky short films! 🎬✨ To top it off, they designed Halloween-inspired scenery frames that were frightfully good! 🕯️🖌️ We’re so proud of everyone’s creativity and effort — great fun and amazing work by all! 🕸️🎨 #Artmix #HalloweenFun #SpookyArt #YoungCreatives #SpecialEffectsMakeup
