Awaken: The Argyll Collection
10 April 2024 – 28 April 2024
The Argyll Collection is a nationally outstanding collection of 173 artworks, established between 1960 and 1990, as a unique learning resource for the young people of Argyll and Bute. Aiming to increase awareness of its educational and contemporary cultural value, Lily Vaughan has worked alongside CHARTS and Dunoon Burgh Hall to develop Awaken, a new exhibition featuring selected works from the collection.
John Maher – Nobody’s Home
29 July to 4 September 2022
Nobody’s Home by photographer John Maher captures abandoned houses across Lewis and Harris, and the exhibition is augmented with other imagery shot against a stunning Hebridean backdrop. This series of images brings the Outer Hebrides to the historic Dunoon Burgh Hall and is part of an ongoing partnership between DBH and Street Level Photoworks.
A Window on Medieval Sculpture
16th October to 22nd November 2020
This exhibition brought together works of Medieval Sculpture generously loaned to the Burgh Hall by a private collector and presented to try to bring their original context to life. Figurative and decorative works from around Western Europe show the connecting inspirations and influences across time and distance, as well as the cultural power of the pre-Reformation Christian Church.
