Bob was the caretaker at Dunoon Burgh Hall for many years until 1948. He lived in the Burgh Hall, probably in the caretaker’s flat, with his wife Jane and family. He was known as “Bob of the Burgh Hall”.

Robert is buried in Dunoon Old Cemetery – Headstone (Robert & Jeannie).

In 1914 he signed his father’s death certificate and stated his address as ‘Burgh Building Dunoon’. Robert’s dad was also called Robert Wilson, and his family refer to him as ‘Robert Wilson Bandmaster’ as he was the first conductor of Dunoon Silver Band/Dunoon Town Band.
