Dunoon Flower Show

Dunoon Flower Show
‘An exhibition of fruit, flowers, vegetables and home industries held in the Burgh Hall, Dunoon, on Thursday and Friday, was opened by Mrs McCallum, Connel, wife of the Member of Parliament for the County. Provost Marshall, who provided, expressed regret that Major McCallum had been unable to accompany his wife on account of the visit to the Western Isles of the Secretary of State for Scotland.
Mrs McCallum she referred to the grim times ahead, and said it was very necessary to produce as much food as possible. They could not afford to import it, so it had to be grown. During the war Cowal Horticultural Society had produced a lot of food and the public looked to them to be an inspiration once more. (Applause)
