Talented artists and makers from across Cowal are returning to Dunoon Burgh Hall for a major showcase exhibition.
The Spirit of Cowal show, from Saturday 5th September to Saturday 10th October, will bring together the majority of Cowal Open Studios’ members in advance of the group’s ever popular Annual Weekend Trail from Friday to Monday September 25-28.
Cowal Art Network, the exhibition arm of Cowal Open Studios, is a group of 68 artists and makers who draw their endless inspiration from the bounteous beauty this wonderful peninsula provides, celebrating this Spirit of Cowal in this landmark exhibition.
The works will be on show at the hall in both the Colm Docherty Gallery, as well as the neighbouring small gallery, offering visitors the chance to get a flavour of the talent across, what is now, one of the premier art networks on the west coast of Scotland.
With pieces by 30 painters and 11 makers on display, it is a perfect opportunity to get to know some of their work, helping you to plan exactly who and where you’d like to visit in their studios and venues – pick up a free guide to the Cowal Open Studios weekend while you visit.
Expect to find paintings ranging from abstract to figurative, and from landscapes to wildlife studies, as well as a selection of ceramics, textiles, jewellery, glass work and wooden crafted items.
This promises to be a feast of colour, texture and variety, with all works for sale – helping to support local talents and with commission donations from each sale going directly towards the work of the Burgh Hall.
The show will also include winning works from Cowal Art Network’s Schools’ Competition, where schoolchildren and young people from across the area interpreted the theme ‘My favourite person and why’.
