A painting from 1867 by Jean-Francois Millet inspired French documentarian Agnes Varda to cross the French countryside and videotape people who scavenge. The documentary follows her journey as she records those who survive by foraging for what society throws away. The Gleaners and I is in interesting documentary highlighting the consumerism of the world and how what some may see as waste, others may see as potential.
