This is an old event

Share 3 days and 3 nights with 3 lighthouse keepers. During the day, they work, watch and wait, whatever the weather. At night, the beacon is lit, and that’s when things can get weird, wonderful, and a wee bit wild!

Gaggle is a theatre performance featuring physical comedy, circus and live music. It is made for audiences of young people with complex additional support needs (ASN), and their families. Created by Tenterhooks, the company who brought you MESS.

There are two performances: 2.00pm (doors at 1.30pm) and 3.30pm (doors at 3.00pm). Each performance lasts 40 minutes and there are 6 bookable family slots available for each performance (a family can be any number of people).

Gaggle is most suitable for teenagers with complex ASN, and can also be enjoyed by children age 5+ with ASN. The production is a non-verbal, highly sensory, stimulating experience. It is very funny! There are frequent moments of stillness and silence to offer the audience time to process, engage and respond in their own ways.

There are 3 performers on stage, and 1 musician close to the audience. Performers interact with the audience throughout, as long as the audience member is happy with interaction. There is a maximum audience capacity of 6 families per performance.

Access Information

Tenterhooks Stage Manager will liaise with families on show day, so the performers can best support our audience’s specific access needs.

Families are welcome to arrive early for the show, if they wish to give their young people time to familiarise themselves with the space.

Audiences are free to come and go during the show if they need to. For example, if a young person becomes over-stimulated or unsure. The performers encourage audiences to engage in whatever way they want. They expect noise, vocalisations and movement. The performers will welcome and include any and all responses.

Please note that the lift in the Burgh Hall is still out of access, but easier access is available through the back door on Albert Crescent. There are still a few steps inside, though.
