Join us for a relaxed, sing-a-long screening of the classic feel-good 1960s musical, starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer.
For anyone who hasn’t seen the film, Let’s start at the very beginning…
Former nun Maria (Andrews) becomes the governess for a family of seven children who live in the shadow of their domineering and repressed widower father Captain Von Trapp (Plummer). Maria brings love, music and excitement into the children’s lives and also eventually begins to melt their father’s heart. The story is set against a backdrop of rising Nazism and the threat of war but the music is marvellous, the scenery is breath-taking and the film is guaranteed to lift your spirits.
Better yet, this special sing a-long version of The Sound of Music includes lyric subtitles for all the songs so that everyone can join in and share the joy.
The film is 2 hours 45 mins long, so we will be running a longer Creative Blethers session from 1pm – 4pm, with complimentary refreshments served from 1pm and throughout the film.
It is a relaxed screening, so people are welcome to arrive late or leave early to suit themselves. This relaxed screening is particularly suited to people with dementia and their carers, but everyone is welcome. There is no need to book.
Creative Blethers are all-inclusive creative experiences for the elderly, carers, and adults with disabilities or mental health concerns. Creative Blethers are free, but donations are very welcome.
Door to door, wheelchair-friendly transport is available to and from your home with our friends at Interloch Transport. Please email wellbeing@dunoonburghhall.org.uk to arrange transport.
