About us

Based on the Cowal Peninsula in the West Coast of Scotland, we work hard to provide an exciting programme of events each year, from world-class art exhibitions to local workshops and classes, theatre performances and comedy nights – we aim to make the arts accessible to all and aim to provide something for everyone.

Art is for everyone and helps us to connect with ourselves and each other through creativity and engaging in the arts seems to be ever-growing in popularity as a way to improve well-being, especially during these challenging times; however, as a charity, we also rely on the support of our visitors, community and volunteers to help Dunoon Burgh Hall to exist.

There are lots of ways to support us, from volunteering your time, or donating to support our core costs and various projects, alternatively join our friend’s scheme and sign up to our newsletter for the latest information.

Don’t forget to check our whats-on page and support us by coming to our events. We have a diverse range of theatre, music and dance, all sure to delight.

How will your support help us

Did you know it costs around £20k per month to run our venue?

Here at Dunoon Burgh Hall we have no core funding which means we have to work hard to secure grant income which is often oversubscribed. Our team, supported by our volunteers work hard to generate income through events, hires as well as our café and bar services.

Apart from day to day running costs we also have a number of projects to upgrade our facilities, including secondary glazing of our windows which will not only make our venue more energy efficient and sustainable but comfortable for our visitors during those cold winter evenings.

We also rely on the support and goodwill or our community and visitors to our building. Donations not only help us maintain our lovely building and its heritage for future generations to come, they allow us to keep investing in our facilities as well as provide a range of exhibitions throughout the year as well as activities to support our community. We work on various projects to provide workshops and classes together with partner organisations where we identify disadvantaged and vulnerable groups, using the arts as away to engage and support people.

So whether you make a donation or book the hall for  a special occasion, or pop in for a cuppa and attend an event, every little helps to support our charity for future generation to enjoy for years to come.
