Description
Ever heard of a Galoshans play?
This centuries old term comes from Scotland and Northern England. It’s a folk play, a cross between mumming and a pantomime and often in rhyme.
Dunoon Players present a short Galoshans play called ‘Doon the Watter’ and All at Sea’, written by Fiona Allen and the Edinburgh Meadows Mummers, with additions by Julie Forrester. This one is about Margaret of Norway, coming to be wed – but the ship’s been stormed by pirates, so expect much derring-do, and general confusion caused by the honest working folk who are performing this play for their betters (that’s you, dear audience!)
The afternoon will include seasonal and comic recitations from Dunoon Players guest artistes.
Why not plan a “proper” festive afternoon at the theatre and enjoy drinks and nibbles in our cafe prior to the performance?
