Description

David Peat: An Eye on the Street – exhibition talk by David Bruce.

David Peat was an award-winning cameraman and documentary film-maker. This exhibition showcases images from his Eye on the Street and Eye on the World series. We are privileged to see work spanning his 40-year career.

In photographs taken of Glasgow communities in 1968, David creates a time capsule providing social commentary on an area being cleared of slums, representing a way of life that was diminishing through the razing of buildings and streets. Prints of many of these images are held by the Scottish National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh.

David Bruce is a former Director of the Scottish Film Council and the Edinburgh International Film Festival but began his professional life with Templar Films in Glasgow. It was while at SFC that he first became aware of David Peat as a documentary film maker.

David Bruce is an historian of film and also photography in which latter connection he is a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society and has chaired its Historical Group.

This is a free event, however places are limited so booking is required.
