The show tells stories of her adventures with the song- singing for US President Clinton, a starring role in Sex and the City and a reinterpretation of the Robert Burns classic that changed her life. Along the way, she tells the story of the song itself – discover its meaning and heritage, and how it became Scotland’s most famous song! It is explored in this production featuring Mairi’s wonderful voice, movement and spoken word along with scintillating use of modern technology and graphic art as a stunning piece of musical theatre.

Mairi is a viola player, singer and songwriter whose music has a rooted and powerful quality, she is a pioneering figure in Scottish music. Her musical interests are wide ranging, from playing Scottish dance music to pushing the boundaries of the traditional music scene with her soundings and improvisations. She has won several awards for her musicianship including Instrumentalist of the Year and Scots Singer of The Year at the Scots Trad Music Awards.

The show premiered at Edinburgh Festival Fringe at Scottish Storytelling Centre throughout August 2018.
