This year marks 100 years since WW1 ended, so we wanted to honour all the men, woman, children & animals that were killed in the Great War.  Since the inception of the project earlier in the year, it has grown enormously and folk have been generous with their time knitting thousands of Poppies,  donating photos, postcards and stories, not only in Dunoon but as far afield as America!

Schools, nurseries & care homes, have also come on board, making clay Poppies, windmills, decorating stones, jam jars (to be used with tea lights), wreaths and much, much more.  The Dunoon Men’s Shed has made wooden Poppies with the names of all the regiments on the War Memorial and these will be displayed along the front of the Queen’s Hall.  We truly are humbled by their generosity!

All these items will be used to decorate the town from the 1stto the 14thof November and the Knit Wit ladies will be part of the march past on Sunday 11thNovember along Argyll Street to the Cenotaph.
