Cowal u3a meeting: Rob Wilkinson – Travelling the World

Originally from Birmingham, Rob moved to Dunoon in 2020 from the Yorkshire Dales due to his deep love for the west coast of Scotland.

His passion for travel has taken him to some rarely visited places including North Korea, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. He’s aiming to reach the milestone of visiting 100 countries with just a handful yet to do.

A journalist and PR & marketing consultant by trade, Rob has got involved in assisting a number of local groups since moving to the area including Cowalfest, Cowal Open Studios, The Meeting Place, Oakbank Community Inn and Historic Kilmun. He’s also played a part in setting up the Cowal Heritage Society which organises regular history talks and visits.

Rob, 54, also has a longstanding passion for football and rugby, having played and reported on both, and enjoys walking the many routes around Cowal and Argyll as well as exploring the Highlands and islands in his campervan.
