Cowal u3a will be joined by John Patterson who will be talking about “Tall Challenges with Belief”.

John has led many blue chip international engineering organisations across a 35 year span. He has recently been appointed Managing Director of a leading provider of leadership and management training. His career is now focussed on “making people better” through executive coaching to develop the leadership and management skills necessary in today’s fast paced world and ever-changing diverse societies.

As his own “Tall Challenge with Belief”, John has bravely decided to conquer all of the 282 Munro summits in Scotland! This challenge started in 2023, and he will be discussing what Munros are and what makes them such a tall challenge.

u3a is a UK-wide movement of locally-run interest groups that provide a wide range of opportunities to come together to learn for fun. Members explore new ideas, skills and activities together. There are over 1000 u3as with around 400,000 members; membership costs less than £20 on average per year and is open to everyone who’s not working full-time. u3a has members who draw upon their knowledge and experience to teach and learn from each other but there are no qualifications to pass – it is just for pleasure. Learning is its own reward. It’s all voluntary; a typical u3a will be home to many activity groups covering hundreds of different subjects – from art to zoology and everything in between.

The meeting starts at 2pm, and there is a small charge for members of £1 to contribute to venue costs. If you are not yet a member, please get in touch with us and we can arrange to have a registration form sent to you.
