DOORS OPEN DAY 2022
To celebrate Doors Open Day 2022, we are delighted to present a wonderful FREE concert with the Kakatsitsi Master Drummers from Ghana!
Kakatsitsi are a group of traditional drummers, dancers and singers from the Ga tribe of Southern Ghana. Their music takes traditional rhythms and chants from their own Ga tradition and those of a variety of other West African cultures, rearranging them in a modern and accessible way.
Seen live, they show culture as it is meant to be celebrated, breaking down the barriers between audience and performers by encouraging the active participation of the people in the celebration, whether on the drums, chanting or dancing.
Since 1996, Kakatsitsi have toured the UK 15 times, working with a wide variety of festivals, arts centres and local authorities, which has established them as the leading African indigenous drumming group in the UK.
This event is free and fun for all ages.
The amazing Kakatsitsi group will be in the Dunoon area in the days leading up to this performance teaching workshops to local schools and community groups.
Join us for this unique community celebration of indigenous music and culture. This event is free to attend. No ticket necessary but please arrive early to guarantee entry
This event is supported by funding from Creative Scotland
