Please Leave A Light On is a celebration of Scotland’s ties with Europe giving meaning to our shared values, heritage, culture and friendships. The history and importance of Scotland’s relationship with Europe goes back many centuries where we travelled and traded throughout Europe and where much of our Celtic heritage is shared. Alyn Smith, then a Scottish MEP, told the European Parliament in 2019: “We celebrate international solidarity and freedom of movement. “If the European Union didn’t exist, we would have to invent something like this and Scotland would be part of it.” He concluded by saying: “Dear colleagues, I am not asking you to resolve our internal discussions. I ask you to leave a light on so we can find our way home.”
The event will include a Sound Performance with Beat Unternährer, a talk by Alyn Smith MP and traditional music performed by Iain Darroch on Small Pipes & Low Whistle, Aileen Morrison on Guitar & Jim King percussion.
