Join us for this preview of our latest exhibition: European Scots. This exhibition features work by three Cowal-based artists all of whom have European heritage:

Inge Bos, Jane H Dee and Gabor Horvath.

Inge Bos is a Dutch painter, based in Argyllshire. A graduate of Utrecht School of Art (1995) she has exhibited extensively in the Low Countries and Argyll Scotland as well as running an educational project consisting of painting and sculpture workshops as a basis for team building and self exploration.

Jane H Dee

Jane Dee seeks to visualise how we fit together as individuals, as a community, within our surroundings and with God: a process she refers to as, Mapping Wholeness. From present day local surroundings to challenging and inspiring years lived overseas, Jane explores her own and others lived experiences of this journey. A visualisation is developed reflectively though community connection, meditation, sketching, photographing and writing. Her work finds light in our weighty, negotiated journey, carrying and weaving together our identity-stories of transition, roots and faith, with intergenerational, ethnic and cultural alternate realities.

Gabor Horvath

Gabor is a collage artist based in Tighnabruaich. His creative process revolves around recycling discarded magazines and paper, exploring the endless possibilities of transforming what others might deem as trash into something of value.

One of the most fascinating aspects of his work is how each piece can be viewed from a distance as a complete image, yet upon closer inspection, it reveals hidden images, messages, and story lines. “My art is a puzzle, and I invite my audience to take a closer look and become a part of the story.”

The exhibition runs 13th October to 12th November, Our Gallery is open 10am to 4pm, and admission is FREE!
