This is our annual Cowal Open Studios Guest Artist Exhibition featuring the work of selected Scottish artists. “Encompassing Scotland” features the work of:

Gillian Stewart – Gillian Stewart is a prize-winning bookbinder and artist. Originally from Innellan, Gillian now runs her bookbinding studio Juju Books from Glasgow where she makes bespoke books and boxes for a wide range of people. Her work uses traditional bookbinding techniques combined with contemporary designs, including hand dyed leather, gold tooling and edge decoration.

Vanessa Laurence – Using wire and pliers, the physical process of building up and holding a form as it comes to life is what really draws Vanessa to create sculptures based on wildlife and the human figure.  The ability to tell a story through sculpture and how its environment can influence that story are all important components to Vanessa’s approach to her work.

Julie Christie – “I am a landscape painter living on the Isle of Skye. Since moving to Skye, I have been inspired to develop a new mixed media painting style, where the challenge is to capture and recreate the fleeting nuances of the forces of nature – sea, air and the elusive ’Skye light’.”

Andy Peutherer Growing up in the West Coast of Scotland with access to a thriving creative culture, as well as a love for some of the most beautiful and dramatic scenery in the world, has inspired me to create artwork which reflects both aspects of my environment. Painting is an instinctive and exhilarating experience that has been a constant part of my life for as long as I can remember.”

Our Gallery is open Wednesday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm, Admission is Free!
