Colm was a much-loved member of the Burgh Hall staff for over 10 years. He was our exhibition designer and technician and curated a wide range of exhibitions over this period, ranging from local arts groups to Tate, National Galleries of Scotland and single shows by British artists including Martin Parr and Barbara Rae.
A talented artist, Colm studied drawing and painting at The Glasgow School of Art in the 1970s, graduating in 1978. He also installed many exhibitions at the Third Eye Centre – now the CCA in Glasgow including works by the Scottish Painters John Bellany and William Johnstone.
A tireless ambassador for the arts, Colm inspired many through his teaching. While he seldom promoted his own work, it was constantly sought after and sold both locally and internationally. He sadly died in a tragic accident in 2022 and this exhibition commemorates his legacy by showcasing many of his drawings and paintings.
If you’ve ever wanted to own a Colm Docherty original, there will be a range of works available to purchase.
