Here’s a message from our Trustees – please take a minute to read, and to help if you can!

In 2024, Dunoon Burgh Hall Trust (which is a registered charity) will commemorate the 150th anniversary of our beautiful community building. To celebrate, we have launched a fundraising programme to help set DBH up for the next 150 years!
Our Crowdfunder appeal was launched back in August with the aim of making a number of improvements to the building to make it more sustainable. While we have made a steady start towards our target, we still have a long way to go… and this is where we desperately need your help.
Could you become part of a very special group of supporters who can really make a difference and help shape the future of the Hall?
One of the areas we are focusing on is our Energy Efficiency as we aim to cut our carbon footprint and improve comfort levels for our visitors. The biggest challenge we face in doing this is improving heat retention in our Main Hall which, let me be honest, can be a little drafty at times! Our Board of voluntary Trustees and our staff team have worked hard to identify the most suitable and cost-effective solution to the problem, and this has emerged as being a system of Secondary Double Glazing which can be installed in a listed building like ours. We have also been able to identify a funding source to help us, however we still need to meet half the costs of the installation which will be in excess of twenty thousand pounds. We know if we can have this glazing installed, our Hall will be far warmer in winter and a cosier place for everyone to enjoy.
We’re aiming to raise 150 pledges of £150 – one per year for the length of time our Hall has been at the Heart of our Community. If you’re able to pledge this amount, your name will be added to a new Honours Board displayed in the Hall. These pledges can be in the name of an individual, a couple or indeed a family group. We can also arrange for you to make your donation over 9 months by standing order which works out at less than £17 per month.
We also realise, however, that things are difficult for many of us just now so I feel it’s really important to reiterate that any donation you are able to make will be very much appreciated.
There are a number of ways you can donate:
 Go to our online donation page at www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/dbh-150th-fundraiser
 Go to our website and hit the red “Donate” button at the bottom of the home page.
 Contact us to donate by bank transfer, cash, cheque or standing order.
If you are in the Hall, please speak to one of our staff who will be happy to receive a card or cash donation – and you can always pop some change into our donation box or piggy banks!
As Chairman of Dunoon Burgh Hall Trust, I can assure you that your donation, big or small, will be the best birthday present you can give us. Please consider getting on board to help us protect our future – with your help, we can make sure that Dunoon Burgh Hall remains a wonderful community asset for years to come.
We simply can’t do this without you.
